Product Description
The Easter egg "Rosebud" is a copy of the jewelry egg that in 1895 Nicholas II gave to his wife Alexandra Feodorovna. Currently, the jewelry egg is in the permanent exhibition of the Faberge Museum in St. Petersburg, located in the Naryshkin-Shuvalov Palace. The original egg "Rosebud" is made in the neoclassical style or, as K. Faberge pointed out, in the style of Louis XVI. It is covered with bright red (strawberry) transparent enamel on a guilloched background and decorated with symbols of love and the strength of the marriage bond-diamond arrows, leafy garlands and wreaths of greenish gold, tied with ribbons. At the top, under a large flat diamond, is a miniature portrait of Nicholas II, painted in watercolour on an ivory plate, and under the lower diamond is inscribed the date of the gift's creation. The surprise is a bud of a yellow tea rose on a short stem, on which there was a button to open the petals. Alexandra Feodorovna's hometown of Darmstadt was famous for its rose garden, and yellow roses were the most valuable in the Empress ' native Germany. Inside the bud is a miniature imperial crown, a copy of the real crown of Alexandra Feodorovna, studded with diamonds; and a pendant with a star-shaped ruby-cabochon. Both of these last surprises are lost. Our Easter egg will be a wonderful gift and interior decoration. A decorative scepter is added to the design, which allows you to leave the egg open and show off an elegant surprise. Inside the yellow rose bud, the owner will find an egg-colored pendant on a chain.
