Product Description

To order a product of the desired color, please write the desired color in the order comments (it will be available at the checkout stage in the shopping cart). Product height h=22cm (original height 8.3 cm). In our collection there are several products-copies of the jewelry egg "Spring flowers" of different sizes (16.5 cm; 8.5 cm)
The original Easter egg "Spring Flowers" is a jewelry made by the factory of Karl Faberge, made around 1899 in the workshop of Mikhail Perkhin. It is believed that the egg was presented to the Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna by one of her close relatives.
Currently, the jewelry egg is in the permanent exhibition of the Faberge Museum in St. Petersburg, located in the Naryshkin-Shuvalov Palace.
Easter egg - box "Spring Flowers" is made in the neo-Rococo style. On the outside, it is covered with translucent enamel (in the original red) on a guilloched background with applied Rococo curls. Its doors open along a vertical seam, edged with a belt of Czech crystals. The top of the egg is closed with a latch, which is also decorated with crystals. The egg-box is located on a round two-stage pedestal, in the original, made of green bavenite, enclosed on top with a belt inlaid with crystals, and at the base decorated with an ornament in the style of rocaille. Our product can be decorated with three types of artificial stone made under topaz, jade and rose quartz. Please specify the desired color of the stone in the comments to the order.
Inside the egg is placed a surprise in the form of a miniature removable basket with flowers, the petals of which are painted with cold enamel of various colors, and the pestles are decorated with crystals. This surprise is very similar to the basket of flowers placed in the jewelry "Winter" egg, made in 1913. In our product, the basket with flowers does not open, but is a complete surprise.
The date of manufacture of the egg is still a mystery, as well as how it got into the collection of the Empress Maria Feodorovna, kept in the Anichkov Palace. It bears the early stamp of the master Mikhail Perkhin and the assay stamp, which was used in St. Petersburg until 1899, while the egg case has a Faberge stamp with the addresses of the St. Petersburg, Moscow and London branches of the company. At first glance, this data is contradictory, since the master's brand suggests that the egg was made before 1899, but the case indicates that it was created after 1903, when a branch of the company opened in London.
The inventory of the property of the Empress Maria Feodorovna, stored in the Anichkov Palace, compiled in mid-September 1917 before transferring it to the Kremlin Armory, mentions "a purse made of gilded silver in the shape of an egg, covered with red enamel, with a sapphire", and as a separate item — "a basket with flowers, decorated with diamonds". It is quite possible that these lines refer to this egg and its surprise. In 1933, the Antiques Association sold the Spring Flowers egg to an unknown person for 2,000 rubles ($1,000). It was later sold by A La Vieille Russie to Long Island collector Landsdell Christie, and then, in 1966, to Malcolm Forbes as an imperial Easter egg.
The Spring Flowers egg was exhibited twice as an imperial Easter egg at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York — in 1961 and 1996, and at the Victoria and Albert Museum in 1977. Until 1993, all publications devoted to this Easter egg included it in the Imperial Easter egg series. This opinion was shared by many leading experts, but after a deeper analysis, Muntyan excluded the Easter egg "Spring Flowers" from the list of gifts made by the emperors of Russia. He believes that the egg belonged to the Empress Maria Feodorovna and was given to her by one of her relatives or close friends.
